The 2018 Buick Encore has its similar version with a different brand name in Europe and Asia. Buick Encore is known as the Opel Mokka in South Korea and Spain, and the Vauxhall Mokka in the UK. The 2018 Buick Encore – the latest model of the Encore sets to hit the market with many redesigns. Buick Encore is the company’s smallest crossover which looks much like any small hatchback. When it was launched in 2013, it was the lone vehicle in the small-crossover section in the market.
2018 Buick Encore – Exterior and Interior Changes
Unlike other small crossovers, 2018 Buick Encore will have a lean forward body work which is housed by Gamma II platform. The little beast is set to rush through the roads with the better aerodynamics and lightweight body. The front grille gets a new look with the addition of winged strip extending on each side of the Buick badge. Headlights get a fancy look with chrome fence around them.
A single crease runs through the middle of the hood. Other new designs include curves on door panels and sculpted fenders. The Encore sits high above the grounds with the 18-inch alloy wheels. For a small SUV, the new 5-seater Encore will have a spacious cargo area of 18.8 cubic feet that can expand to 48.4 cubic feet on back seat folding.
Interior of the 2018 Buick Encore can be termed more functional than luxurious. At the middle of the dashboard is an 8-inch infotainment screen with controls for Wi-Fi, 4G communication link, and smartphone integration facility. A 4.2-inch instrument panel accompanies the gauge cluster.
A tilt and telescopic steering wheel add to the class of the interior that is full of soft-touch materials. The base trim will have cloth upholstery. Heated front seats and leather upholstery can be expected for higher trims. Smart controls include the keyless entry and ignition, automatic headlight operation and dual climate control.
6 speaker system and an active noise cancellation system enhance the acoustics of the cabin.
The vehicle will also include standard safety measures. Higher trims will get to see sensors for lane departure warning, rear cross-traffic warning, parking help and forward collision warning.
2018 Buick Encore – Under the Hood
Buick Encore 2018 promises a powerful drive experience with two variants of an inline-4 1.4-litre engine. One variant will be an Ecotec engine that can deliver 140 hp of power and 150 lb-ft. of torque. The other variant is a turbocharged 155 hp 180 lb-ft. engine. Both the engines can be maneuvered with a 6-speed automatic transmission on forwarding wheel drive. Option for all wheel drive has been provided.
Estimated efficiency of 25 mpg city and 33 mpg highway drive is expected for the front wheel drive version while the all-wheel drive option will reduce efficiency to 23 mpg city and 30 mpg highway drive.
2018 Buick Encore – Launch and Price
The 2018 Buick Encore will take on the likes of BMW X1, Mercedes GLA, Mini Countryman and Audi Q3 with a base pricing of around $25,000. Expect an early 2018 launch. The small crossover will be available in three innovative colors – BlackBerry Metallic, Ebony Twilight Metallic, and White Frost Metallic. What is exciting is that Buick will offer 5 possible trims of the new Encore in the market – Preferred, Sport Touring, Preferred II, Essence, and Premium.
