Although past concepts like Ciel and Elmiraj never went into production, this premier sedan could be released late as 2018 Cadillac Escala. Some experts say that 2018 Cadillac Escala Concept is the precursor to Cadillac CT8, and if that is the case, a closer look at it is imperative.
2018 Cadillac Escala Concept – Design
With an aim to compete with the likes of Audi A8 and Mercedes-Benz S class, Escala has been elongated from its supposed predecessor CT6, even though it will be based on CT6’s Omega platform.
The front features narrow horizontal headlights, a first for the manufacturers since the Seville, which will be complemented by two vertical narrow OLED lamps which are daytime-running. This shows that Cadillac Escala Concept 2018 will feature modern minimalistic designs in keeping with current trends.
22-inch wheels of Cadillac Escala Concept conceal the lug nuts making them look sleek, while its tires have Cadillac’s chevron tread pattern. The front has a large 3D mesh grille that is adorned with a shiny monotone emblem.
The cabin of 2018 Cadillac Escala Concept will be abounding with brushed aluminum texture finishes while the dashboard will be made of American Walnut. Elegant looking gray suit material, instead of leather, cover seats making the cabin appear even more luxurious.
An OLED Samsung screen, which is three layered, sits on the dashboard. There are no B-pillars, which not only makes the cabin look better but also gives it a more spacious feel. Infotainment system will be totally guided by touch, with a rotating knob in the center acting as the main console.
The knob even has a crystal Flying Goddess, a symbol on hoods of old models of the 1930s. Screens for rear passengers on the back of front seats can be hidden away once work is done, which is a new feature.
2018 Cadillac Escala Concept – Powertrain
Luxury and elegance aside, Cadillac Escala Concept 2018 will be more powerful than any of its predecessors in the sedan segment. A 4.2-litre twin turbocharged DOHC V8 engine will sit inside Escala’s hood. This engine is capable of producing a whopping 500 hp of power and will have Active Fuel Management from General Motors, making it fuel efficient and powerful at the same time.
2018 Cadillac Escala Concept – Expected Arrival
Since it is a concept vehicle, it is not expected to be an outright production model, although a design on similar lines is soon expected to be put into production by Cadillac. Mainly featured in auto expo shows, the main intention of 2018 Cadillac Escala Concept was to show what the next Cadillac luxury sedan would look like.
Many bets that this 2018 Cadillac Escala Concept could indeed be an upcoming Cadillac CT8 and the idea isn’t too far-fetched either. If that is the case, expect it to be out by late 2018 or early 2019.
