2018 Chevrolet Medium Duty 4500/5500 Review

The 2018 Chevrolet Medium Duty 4500/5500 trucks will be a revival of sorts for Chevrolet in the Class 4/5 section of trucks. Chevrolet has been in the truck business for a long time – as far back as the 1940s. Chevrolet’s wide range of truck platforms have been used in construction vehicles, refuse collectors or even school buses. The last of the great Chevrolet trucks were the TopKick and Kodiak trucks. But Chevrolet had to shut down its truck business by 2009 the main reason being the lack of interest among dealers to roll out new trucks.

After 2009, Chevrolet was planning to sell of TopKick and Kodiak trucks’ production to Navistar International. The 2018 Chevrolet Medium Duty 4500/5500 trucks will be a part of the plan and will counter challenges from Ford and RAM trucks.

The new age trucks of Class 4/5 section will be built at Navistar’s plant in Springfield, Ohio. Industry experts term the collaboration as the meeting of GM’s quality engines and components and Navistar’s manufacturing prowess.
