The 2018 Buick Cascada is a convertible based on a coupe platform. Its design concept is based General Motors’ modular architecture. Most of its design components are inspired by the company’s Regal version and the old Astra J. This convertible has rounded ends both at its front and rear, and a lean forward body style for better aerodynamics. The front fascia has an eye-catching waterfall grille design with chrome details.
LED lighting technology has been introduced in both the headlights and the tail-lamps.
This new Cascada will be as heavy as a BMW M4 convertible but has a stronger performance. General Motors’ HiPer Strut suspension has provided a comfortable drive experience for riders.
The Cascada has an electro-hydraulic roof that retracts in 17 seconds with a button control. Hence, this vehicle needs to be at a maximum of 31 mph speed to achieve the roof retraction in 17 seconds. Once its roof has been rolled back, the cargo space shifts to 9.8 cubic feet.
Base trims will have stylish diamond cut 18-inch wheels while the premium trims will have 19-inch wheels.
2018 Buick Cascada – Interior and Technology
The 2018 Cascada convertible, meant for leisurely long drives, will have luxurious leather upholstery. The base trims will get a heated guiding wheel, dual-zone climate control and LED taillights.
A touch screen will control infotainment services at the console. Other standard features include satellite radio, USB ports, CD/DVD player slots, smartphone integration support and also adaptive cruise control.
Expect to have a 6 airbag safety in the new convertible along with stability and traction controls. The premium variant will also have advanced features rain-sense wipers and forward collision alert system.
2018 Buick Cascada – Engine Specs
The Base trim of this Buick Cascada 2018 will feature a 1.6-liter turbocharged inline-4 engine capable of delivering 200 hp power and 200 lb-ft. of torque. Premium model of the vehicle will have also a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine with maximum power of 260 hp. A 9-speed automatic transmission will back this Cascada engine.
It is rumored that Buick is also developing another hybrid powertrain but specs are unavailable.
2018 Buick Cascada – Pricing and Launch
The base model of this 2018 Buick Cascada will cost around $33,000 while the premium model will cost around $45,000. A late 2017 launch is expected. Competitors in the market include the Audi A5 and BMW 4 Series Convertible. Cars designed by Buick are also highly popular in Europe but as a different brand-Opel.
