The 2018 Buick Enclave is the most important crossover, Enclave that was first launched in 2008. In the light of every automobile maker transforming their brands in a couple of years, Buick is also committed to face-lifting its fleet of impressive cars. The 2018 model comes after 10 years, which is a tad late compared to the current trend of redesigning models within a 3 or 4 years’ time. The new Buick Enclave is slated to walk the ramp at the New York Auto Show in April 2017.
2018 Buick Enclave – Redesign and Changes
Buick is most likely to shed off the old Lambda platform used for the first Enclave and opt for the new C1XX platform. The Buick Enclave 2018 will be the usual 3 row full-size SUV and will share the same architecture as the 2018 Chevrolet Traverse and Acadia. They have been basing their new crossovers on the Avenir concept and designs.
Buick’s new Enclave will feature the iconic Buick emblem embossed on the waterfall grille. Chrome grille and similar accents on the bumpers adds to the luxury outlook for the vehicle. Multiple redesigns on the exterior include advanced LED headlights and rectangular taillights above the bumpers with two mufflers. The rear will look unique as the exhaust pipes have been integrated to the bumpers.
The body uses lightweight aluminum parts that bring down the weight of the vehicle to 4400 pounds, much lesser than the previous model. It will be smaller than the Acadia but only sleeker.
19-inch stylish wheels will be offered for riders. The wheelbase has been increased by 2 inches to 118 inches. Expect to see the new Enclave in 9 different colors. The cargo space is also impressive at 23 cubic feet and with the back. Seats folded it will expand to 113 cubic feet.
Meant for utmost luxury along with pure SUV performance, the 2018 Buick Enclave will be studded with premium parts. The dashboard and other parts will have quilted leather, real aluminum, wood accents and minimum plastic.
An 8-inch infotainments touchscreen console has been installed live with Buick’s Intellilink system. Throughout all trims, you will be seeing standard features like USB ports, Wi-Fi Hotspot, and satellite radio. Tire pressure sensors, remote start control, heated rear-view mirrors, and auto-sensitive lamps make the vehicle technology smart.
Higher trims will have Bose stereo system, leather upholstery, heated front seats, a smart dual climate control and color rear-seat displays.
Passengers’ safety has been kept in mind with features like antilock disc brakes, adequate airbags, driver’s stability control along with traction control and a unique child seat restraint system with latch. Higher trims will also have optional controls of blind spot monitoring and a backup camera.
2018 Buick Enclave – Engine and Performance
2018 Buick Enclave will be driven by a strong 3.6-liter LGX V6 engine that delivers a maximum of 305 hp. An option for a 2.0-liter LTG 4-cylinder 255 hp turbocharged engine will be available that should enhance the fuel efficiency of the SUV. Both engines will be backed by a 9-speed automatic transmission on a front wheel drive train. All-wheel drive option will be provided. The improved engine should provide a 28 mpg highway running capacity.
2018 Buick Enclave – Launch Date and Price
The 2018 Buick Enclave will be produced in three trims – basic (convenience), leather and premium. To take on rivals like Nissan Pathfinder, Ford Explorer, and Volvo XC90. Buick’s new enclave will be priced at an estimate of $40,000 and should be released by end of 2017.
