The General Motors have decided to develop a better version of the CT6 and that will be the 2019 Cadillac CT8. However, despite its popularity, they have always been lagging behind competitors in the luxury sedan segment.
Reports earlier had suggested that Cadillac had dropped the idea for a CT8, but the company had clarified that was not the case; the plan was just put on hold due to customers’ preference for crossovers nowadays. Main competitions of Cadillac CT8 2018 will be other top-end luxury sedans like Audi A8, Maserati Quattroporte, and Lexus LS.
2019 Cadillac CT8 – Design
Since Cadillac CT8 2019 could be based on Cadillac’s concept car Escala, it is expected to take on similar features when it comes to design, although finer details might not be the same. In any case, this full sized sedan is going to be larger and heavier than its predecessor CT6, just like Escala, to match rivals like BMW 7 series.
Very narrow headlights that you saw in an Escala at Monterey Car Week will be replaced by wider and larger LED headlights in CT8, although they might retain similar shape. A chrome strip between headlights is set to stay in true Cadillac style, while three winged backlights like in Escala will not stay in this upcoming Cadillac CT8 2019.
CT6 was based on Cadillac’s Omega platform. A 2019 Cadillac CT8 too will, in all probability, be built on an Omega platform, which is ideal for both rear-wheel and all-wheel drive. Also, the possibility of an entirely new platform can’t be ruled out, as it happens with a new model for big players like Porsche.
Luxurious and elegant have to be the two words to describe interior designs that are expected in the 2019 Cadillac CT8. Leather and wooden detailing will be done on the dashboard, with a large display screen for various controls.
Cabin space in CT8 will be for 4 passengers mirroring the concept Escala. Seats will be covered with something luxurious like Nappa Leather and are expected to have heating and cooling options.
2019 Cadillac CT8 – What Could be its Powertrain
An all new 4.2-litre twin turbocharged V8 engine is being anticipated as the most likely possibility for this vehicle. A powerful engine, this V8 is capable of producing over 500 hp of power and 500 lb-ft. of torque. Also, it has the added advantage of being as fuel efficient as the V6, especially when on highways. A hybrid option too could be provided later.
2019 Cadillac CT8 – Expected Release Date and Price
First and foremost, it is important to remember that since the 2019 Cadillac CT8 will be based on a highly luxurious concept. Prices will be on the higher side, unlike CT6 which costs at most $70,000. Expect it to start from $90,000, with higher range variants reaching $110,000, competing with their European counterparts in the market. It is likely to come out anywhere between late 2018 to early 2019.
